Cross Country Competes at James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. – Elms College senior men's cross country runner Benjamin Kronlund (Longmeadow, Mass.) and freshman women's cross country runner Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) were the top individual finishers for the Blazers in Saturday afternoon's James Earley Invitational hosted by Westfield State University at Stanley Park.

The Blazers' men's team did not register a team score in the event, while the women's team placed 32nd in the field of 38 teams.

Alex Gomes of Salem State University recorded a time of 25:43 and was the top overall finisher for the men, the United State Coast Guard Academy was the top team finisher in Saturday's race.

On the women's side, the US Coast Guard Academy finished as the top team in the competition, while Bridgewater State University's Molly Rouillard (18:45) was the first to cross the finish line.

For the men, Kronlund clocked a time of 36:17 to lead Elms, while freshman Jessie Murray (Springfield, Mass.) (38:39), senior Michael Desmond (Nashua, N.H.) (46:16) and sophomore John Southworth (Springfield, Mass.) each had strong finishes for the Blazers in the men's 8-kilometer race.

For the women, Lehouillier notched a team-best time of 22:36 in the women's 5-kilometer race, while freshman Meghan Sullivan (Springfield, Mass.) finished second for the Blazers with a time of 25:37.

Senior Jennifer Cicero (Chicopee, Mass.) (26:26), sophomore Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) (26:28), freshman Emily Taylor (27:20), sophomore Gabrielle Calvanese (Agawam, Mass.) (28:50), sophomore Sarah Jane Dyer (Hinsdale, Mass.) (30:52), freshman Madison Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) and sophomore Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) (31:55) rounded out Elms' squad.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 15 at the Western New England University Invitational. The women's race is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. with the men's race to start at 11:15 a.m.
