Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth at Daniel Webster College Eagle Invitational

NASHUA, N.H. - Elms College sophomore runner Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) sprinted to a second-place overall finish to help pace the Blazers to a score of 92 and a fourth place finsh in Friday evening's cross country Eagle Invitational hosted by Daniel Webster College at Mines Falls Park.

New Hampshire Tech's James Stockwell clocked a time of 31:26 edging Zina, who also recorded a 31:26 in the 8-kilometer race, by a hair and earn first place individual honors. New Hampshire Tech also had all five of its scoring runners place in the top 15 en route to posting a team score of 31.

New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) rivals Southern Vermont College and host Daniel Webster posted second and third place scores of 44 and 88 respectively, while the Blazers came in fourth with an overall mark of 92. Rivier College rounded out the scoring field with a 104.

Elms' senior Benjamin Kronlund (Longmeadow, Mass.) crossed the line in 17th place overall (37:08), while freshman Jessie Murray (Springfield, Mass.) registered a 37:57 to capture 20th place as the Blazers' third finisher. Senior Michael Desmond (Nashua, N.H.) and freshman Nicholas Green (Ware, Mass.) followed in 26th and 27th place with respective times of 48:22 and 55:26.

On the women's side, the race was scored as an individual event only.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 24 when it hosts the Blazers Invitational at Chicopee Memorial State Park at 10:00 a.m.
