Lehouillier, Zina Garner NECC Cross Country Weekly Awards

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College sophomore Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) and freshman Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) earned weekly New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) awards for cross country as announced by the league office on Monday.

Zina was named men’s cross country’s NECC Runner of the week after posting a time of 20:12 in the 5-kilometer race at the Smith College Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 10 to lead Elms’ four runners. Zina bested his time from last season at the same race (21:14) by just over a minute.

Lehouillier, competing in her first collegiate race, sprinted to a time of 24:20 in the women’s 5-kilometer race to lead all eight Blazers in the race en route to being named NECC Rookie of the Week. Lehouillier also came in ahead of all other NECC competition on Saturday.
