NORTHAMPTON, MA – Elms College senior
Amanda Koch (Williston, VT) and freshman
Brendan Warren (Arlington, MA) were the top two
individual finishers for the Blazers in Saturday afternoon’s
Smith Invitational.
Koch clocked a time of 28:16 to place 99 out of 124 finishers in
the women’s 5K (3.1 miles) while Warren checked in with a
stellar time of 22:53 in the men’s 5K race.
Anna Cressotti (Southampton, MA) of Smith turned
in a time of 19:43 to earn the top individual honors, while
Springfield College’s David Birdsall (Madison,
CT) finished the course in a time of 16:57 to claim the
men’s individual honors.
Wellesley earned top team honors for the women, scoring 38
points,followed by Coast Guard (59), Smith (60), Westfield State
(64), Mount Holyoke (140), Clark (181), Norwich (221), MCLA (231),
Saint Joseph (278) and New England College (286).
Coast Guard claimed the top slot for the men with 31 points.
Springfield College (33), Westfield State (115), Western New
England (122), Norwich (148), Clark (151), SUNY Institute of
Technology (198), New England College (229) and MCLA (233) rounded
out the remaining teams.
Next up for the Blazers is the Daniel Webster Invitational which is
slated for 4:00 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
