ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College senior Tom Weldon (Springfield, Mass.) was named the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office Monday morning. This is Weldon's first pitcher of the week recognition, and the first Blazers to take home the honor since Andrew Sadowski on April 7th, 2014.

Weldon continued his stellar senior campaign, registering his nation-leading ninth victory of the season as Elms downed Mitchell, 4-3, in game one of a doubleheader sweep by the Blazers. Tom held the Mariners to two earned runs while fanning 10 batters in the eight-inning, complete game performance. For the season, Weldon leads the NECC in wins, strikeouts (72), and innings pitched (70.1), while ranking second in complete games (4), third in strikeouts per nine innings (9.21), and sixth in earned run average (2.56).

Weldon and the Blazers will be back on the diamond when they host Union (N.Y.) in non-conference action at MacKenzie Stadium Wednesday night at 6:00 p.m.
