FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Elms College freshman center fielder Stephen Fisher (West Boylston, Mass.) went 4 for 5 at the plate with a two-run homer, but Framingham State College held the Blazers scoreless in seven innings to help lead the Rams to a 13-3 victory in Wednesday afternoon's non-conference baseball game at Bowditch Field.

With the loss, Elms falls to 7-18 overall, while Framingham State improves to 15-14 on the season.

Elms got off to a fast start as junior shortstop Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley, Mass.) led off the game with a two-bagger before Fisher cranked his first collegiate-career home run to give the Blazers a 2-0 lead.

Framingham State answered with three runs in the bottom of the first, and two in the home half of the second to take a 5-2 lead before Elms pulled to within two in the top of the third inning.

Sophomore infielder Andrew Kravontka (Manchester, Conn.) reached on an error to lead off the inning and then moved to second on a base hit by Cordeiro. Kravontka then came full circle on a run-scoring single by Fisher to set the score at 5-3.

The Rams extended their advantage to five with three runs in the bottom half of the third frame, and then scored twice in the bottom of the fourth to take a 10-3 lead. From there, Framingham State tacked on single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to post a 13-3 victory.

Framingham State starter Matthew Magazine (Marlborough, Mass.) pitched five innings en route to his third win of the season to improve to 3-0. Elms starter Dan Ingraham (Granby, Mass.) tossed five innings and suffered the loss to fall to 0-5 on the year.

The Rams' Will Crofton (Hopkinton, Mass.) went 3 for 5 at the dish with a two-run shot, drove in four runs and scored three times to highlight the Framingham State offensive attack. Corey Ketterer (Plymouth, Mass.) went 3 for 3 at the plate with 3 RBI and two runs scored, while Daniel Tomasz (Newburyport, Mass.) connected for three hits and crossed the plate three times.

The Rams took advantage of six Elms miscues and held the Blazers' bats to just five hits from the third inning on.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Thursday, April 22 when it hosts Nichols College. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m. at MacKenzie Stadium in Holyoke, Mass.
