Blazers Draw Springfield In NCAA Tournament Opening Round

CHICOPEE, Mass.
-- After capturing the New England Collegiate Conference tournament title on Saturday, the Elms College women's lacrosse team learned that it will face Springfield College in the program's first-ever NCAA Tournament game as the NCAA unveiled its Division III women's lacrosse tournament bracket on Sunday night. 

The Blazers and Pride will face off on Saturday, May 12 at Trinity (CT) in Hartford, Conn. The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the round of 32 to face Trinity.

Elms (10-8) will bring a seven-match winning streak into its first NCAA Tournament after claiming its first NECC title on Saturday. Springfield earned an at-large bid into the tournament after falling to Babson in the NEWMAC Championship game. The Pride enter the postseason with a 14-6 overall record.

After going 7-0 in NECC regular-season play, the Blazers won the league's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament by beating Bay Path in the conference semifinals and Wheelock in the championship game.
