Vurno Captures NECC Player Of The Week Honor After Scoring 100th Goal

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – After scoring her 100th career goal and finishing the week with 12 goals and six assists, Elms College junior Vanessa Vurno earned New England Collegiate Conference Player of the Week honors, the league announced on Monday.

Vurno (Salem, Conn.) led Elms with 18 points during the week, after racking up 12 goals and six assists. She scored her 100th career goal in a win over Bay Path and the Blazers went 2-0 against NECC competition. Vurno scored five goals in a win at Dean, one against Lasell, and added six more in another conference win on Saturday. For the week she was 6-for-8 in free-position shots and she collected six ground balls. Sixteen of her 18 shots for the week were on-goal, and 12 resulted in goals.

Vurno and the Blazers step out of conference play on April 12 to host Nichols before visiting Mitchell in an NECC showdown on April14.
