Elms Shot Down By Lasell

CHICOPEE, Mass. – The Elms College women's lacrosse team was unable to pick up a third consecutive win, falling 20-3 to Lasell in non-conference action at Leary Field on Thursday night.

The Lasers (7-3) scored the first eight goals and took a 13-2 lead into halftime. Haley Richard (Monson, Mass.) scored an unassisted goal and Vanessa Vurno (Salem, Conn.) tacked on two free-position goals for the Blazers (2-7) offensively.

Elms goalkeeper Emily Huber (Jefferson, Maine) finished with nine saves after facing 29 shots on goal. The Lasers owned a 36-13 lead in overall shots and 29-11 advantage in shots on goal. Lasell also dominated the draw, with an 18-5 lead in draw controls in the game.

Jorgia Bergin (Sandwich, Mass.) led Lasell with four goals while Jordan McComb (Cumberland, R.I.), Kellie Matthews (Walpole, Mass.), and Vanessa Pino (Methuen, Mass.) added three each. Laser goalkeeper Morgan Choquet (Woonsocket, R.I.) stopped eight shots.

Elms will return to New England Collegiate Conference play on Saturday when Bay Path makes the short trip up to Chicopee at 11:00 a.m.
