Men’s and Women’s Cross Compete at NCAA Division III Qualifier

WESTFIELD, Mass. – The Elms College men's and women's cross country teams concluded their 2012 seasons at the 2012 NCAA Division III Qualifier hosted by Westfield State University on Saturday afternoon.

Middlebury College earned top team honors in the men's 8-kilometer race scoring 91 points, followed by Bowdoin College who used a first place individual finish from Coby Horowitz (24:51.36) to seal second place (101 points). Bates College finished third (105), followed by Williams College (113) and Tufts University (114) to round out the top five teams. Elms did not register a team score in the men's race.

On the women's side, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) finished first with 58 points, followed by Williams (75), Middlebury (89), Bates (145) and Amherst College (190). The fifth place Lord Jeffs were led by the top individual finisher in the women's 5-kilometer race, Keri Lambert, who notched a time of 20:48.94. Elms finished 50th out of 51 scoring teams in the event.

Blazers' junior Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) clocked a time of 32:38.78 to lead all Elms runners, followed by freshman Adam Kuzdzal (Chicopee, Mass.) with a time of 34:08.92.

For the women, sophomore Rachel Lehouillier (Belchertown, Mass.) registered a time of 28:02.14, followed by freshman Emma Bernard (Springfield, Mass.) (28:57.29), junior Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) (30:25.08), sophomore Shirley Ryan (Brimfield, Mass.) (30:41.05), sophomore Emily Taylor (Ludlow, Mass.) (32:54.34), sophomore Maddie Boehm (Sutton, Mass.) (36:18.86) and junior Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) (39:50.18).
