Men And Women's Cross Country Competes At James Earley Invitational

WESTFIELD, Mass. - Elms College freshman Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) was the men's top finisher and senior Alycia Dabrowski (Chicopee, Mass.) was the women's top finisher at Saturday afternoon's James Earley Invitational cross country meet hosted by Westfield State University.

SUNY Delhi's Chris Burnett clocked a time of 25:40 to earn individual honors in the men's 8-kilometer race, while Vassar College's Johanna Spangler finished the women's 5-kilometer run in a top time of 18:29.

On the men's side, Vassar earned a team score of 75 to capture first place honors, Westfield State finished second with 122 points and Trinity College totaled 126 points to secure third place.

For the women, Vassar finished first with 28 points thanks to five top 12 finishers, Trinity placed second with 68 points and Westfield came in third with 135 total points.

For the Blazers' men's team, Zina clocked a time of 32:54, freshman Patrick Noenickx (Scituate, Mass.) registered a 34:39, sophomore Brendan Warren (Arlington, Mass.) tabbed a 35:27, senior Nick Whitman (Florence, Mass.) registered a 36:51, junior Benjamin Kronlund (Longmeadow, Mass.) clocked a 38:28, sophomore Keith Godek (Chicopee, Mass.) notched a 40:54 and junior Mike Desmond (Nashua, N.H.) rounded out the squad with a 44:49.

In the women's race, Dabrowski was Elms' top finisher with a time of 24:27. Junior Jennifer Cicero (Chicopee, Mass.) followed with a 25:30 and junior Chantal Wakefield (East Longmeadow, Mass.) delivered a 26:06 while junior Becka Boisseau (Chicopee, Mass.) scored a 26:39. Freshman Gabrielle Calvanese (Agawam, Mass.) notched a 26:52, freshman Kerry Ashe (Springfield, Mass.) registered a 28:30, and freshman Stephanie Konstantinidis (Holyoke, Mass.) ran a 31:34.

Elms returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 16 at the Western New England College (WNEC) Invitational.
