Men And Women’s Cross Country Compete At Eagle Invitational

NASHUA, N.H. – Elms College freshman Patrick Noenickx (Scituate, Mass.) finished 14th overall on the men's side, while junior Jennifer Cicero (Chicopee, Mass.) placed 18th for the women in Friday afternoon's Eagle Invitational cross country race hosted by Daniel Webster College.

On the men's side, New Hampshire Technical Institute earned team honors with 38 points, while Suffolk University (59) and Rivier College (100) placed second and third. Host Daniel Webster tallied 109 points to finish in fourth place and Elms finished two points behind them to come in fifth. Nashua Community College and Newbury College did not register a team score.

New Hampshire Tech's Chris Apkarian finished the men's 5.62-mile race in 33:16 to claim individual honors, and two of his teammates also placed in the top 10 to help pace the squad to victory.

For the women, Wheelock College garnered top honors as three runners placed in the top 10 en route to 45 points. Newbury came in second with 79 points, Suffolk placed third with 88 points, Rivier totaled 93 points, Daniel Webster scored 109 points and Elms finished with 122 points. Nashua Community College and New Hampshire Tech did not earn a team score.  

Newbury's Solange Thomas (Webster, Mass.) was the top individual finisher for the women, running to a time of 22:10 on the 3.1-mile course. Wheelock also placed three runners in the top 10 for the race to help the Wildcats seal the victory.

Noenickx was Elms' top finisher for the men with a time of 39:22, while freshman Jesse Zina (Ludlow, Mass.) was the Blazers' next finisher, completing the race in 41:12.

Cicero was Elms' top finisher on the women's side, notching a time of 27:14 while Gabrielle Calvanese (Chicopee, Mass.) and Becka Boisseau (Chicopee, Mass.) crossed next for the Blazers with times of 27:49 and 27:57 respectively.

Elms returns to the trails on Saturday, Sept. 25 when it hosts its 2010 Blazers Invitational.
