Baseball Falls to Regionally Ranked Amherst

HOLYOKE, MA - The Elms College Baseball team hosted Region I No. 1 Amherst College for a non-conference game Wednesday afternoon at Mackenzie Stadium.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Sophomore Ross Tine (Wethersfield, CT) would get the start for Elms, pitching 1.1 innings and allowing 11 runners on base. The Blazers were trailing early again, as Amherst would score nine runs through the first two innings of the game. The Blazers finally got on the board in the the bottom of the fourth inning from from an RBI-triple from graduate student Josh Pasini (Enfield, CT), allowing senior AJ Cook (Mendon, MA) to score, which was followed by a RBI-single by graduate student Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) and an RBI-single by Cook in the next inning, driving in first-year Eliel Colon (Springfield, MA) to cut the deficit to 9-3. However, the Blazers pitchers continued to struggle, giving up five more runs to Amherst. Junior Blake Bastos (Mineola, NY) recorded an RBI in the sixth inning to give Elms their fourth run of the game, but it was not enough, as the Blazers fell 14-4.
