Baseball Falls to Pilgrims

HENNIKER, NH - The Elms College Baseball team traveled to New England College for a conference game on Tuesday afternoon.

BASICS
Score: Elms College 3 | New England College 19
Record: Blazers 16-18, 6-8 (GNAC) | Pilgrims 6-23, 4-8 (GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blazers would get off to the worst start possible, allowing nine runs in the first inning to dig themselves a huge hole. The Elms defense could not get consistent outs and could only watch the Pilgrims batters get hit after hit. New England College continued to score, going up 12-0 after the fourth inning. Junior Blake Bastos (Mineola, NY) got the Blazers on the board off of a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning, but the Pilgrims would put seven more runs on the Blazers to go up 19-1. Senior Justin Miller (Prospect, CT) recorded a two run-single in the seventh inning, but his hit was not enough to save the struggling Blazers from a 19-3 defeat.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Bastos: one run batted in

  • Miller: two hits and two runs batted in

UP NEXT: The Blazers will be at home to take on Amherst College in a non-conference game on Wednesday April, 24 at Mackenzie Stadium in Holyoke, MA at 5 P.M.
