Former Elms College Baseball Pitcher, LeBarron Inks Free Agent Deal with Los Angeles Angels

BENNINGTON, Vt. – Former Elms College left-handed pitcher Zach LeBarron recently inked a free agent deal with the Los Angeles Angels of Major League Baseball (MLB) and reports to Phoenix, Ariz., and the Arizona League on June 14. The season begins on June 20.

LeBarron was not selected during this week's MLB Draft but signed his free agent contract with the Angels on Thursday evening.

LeBarron pitched for the Blazers during the 2009 and 2010 seasons and a amassed a 4.00 earned run average in 20 appearances on the hill. During his two-year career at Elms, LeBarron tallied a 7-6 overall record with a save in 90.1 innings pitched. He also issued 96 strikeouts including the Blazers' single-season record for strikeouts (62) in 2010.

Following the 2010 season, LeBarron transferred to NCAA Division II Southern New Hampshire University where he went 5-0 with a 2.35 ERA in 13 appearances (10 starts) in 2012 while striking out 66 in 72.2 innings of work. He held opponents to a .237 batting average and in his final collegiate start tossed eight innings of one-run baseball, striking out seven without issuing a walk in an NCAA East Regional win over Wilmington (Del.) University.
