Morse, Leal Earn 2012 All-NECC Honors
ATTLEBORO, Mass. – Elms College senior outfielder Donny Morse (Alfred, Maine) was named Second Team All-New England Collegiate Conference (NECC), while sophomore pitcher Derek Leal (Charlton, Mass.) was named Honorable Mention All-NECC as announced by the league office on Monday.
Morse hit .367 during league action in 2012 with a team-high 18 hits, six doubles and he also drove in 12 runs. Morse had three multi-hit games against conference competition and twice went 4 for 5 at the plate in outings against Lesley University and Mitchell College.
On the mound, Leal picked up three wins and three saves in nine appearances against league foes. Leal tossed 21 strikeouts in a team-best 35.1 innings of work and registered a 5.60 earned run average (ERA). In a win over Lesley, Leal picked up his first save against the conference slate tossing four strikeouts in 2.2 frames of scoreless relief.
