Blazers Sweep Both Games of Home Doubleheader with Lynx

Chicopee, MA. – The Elms College Baseball team won both games of their doubleheader with Lesley University on Saturday, winning game one by a score of 10-9 in walk-off fashion and the second 19-4. Elms improves to 3-1 on the season.

 

GAME 1: Elms 10 - Lesley 9

The visitors jumped out to a quick (2-0) lead in the top of the first. Elms answered back with one run in the bottom of the inning.

The Blazers tied the game at 2 in the third inning off a sac fly from Josh Keaton (Northbridge, MA). Both starting pitchers were solid over the first half of the game. Kyle Sebastyanski (Auburn, MA) only allowed two runs before before running into trouble in the 5th. The Lynx scored five runs in the top of the fifth, chasing Sebstyanski from the game with the Lynx leading (7-2).

After picking up one more run in the bottom of the fifth, the Blazers bats came to life, and responded with a five run inning of their own in the sixth. AJ Cook (Mendon, MA) drove one run in and Seamus Higgins (Rutland, MA) drove in two in the inning that ended Dabrowski's day for Lesley.

The Lynx went ahead late with two runs in the top of the seventh on a bases loaded walk and a bases loaded hit by pitch, but their one run lead was not enough. The Blazers would not be denied in their home opener, and scored two of their own in the bottom of the seventh to take the win, with a walk-off single by Cook ending game one.

Austin Roy picked up the win for Elms.

 

 

GAME 2: Elms 19 – Lesley 4

It was all Elms early in game two, as they scored ten runs in the first two innings on their way to nineteen total.

Higgins scored five runs alone in the game, while Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) was 3-for-4 with five RBI and a grand slam. Domenick Whalen (Enfield, CT) was 2-2 with four driven in.

Josh Guilmartin (East Granby, CT) got the win for Elms, allowing four runs in six innings pitched.

The Blazers are back in action on Saturday 4/10 when they host two games vs New England College at 12pm and 3pm.
