Women's Volleyball Collects Consecutive Conference Honors

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – For the second straight week, the Elms College women's volleyball team swept the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Women's Volleyball weekly awards, announced by the conference office Monday. Junior Danielle Redding (Las Vegas, N.V.) earned back-to-back Player of the Week awards, while freshman Dakota Stewart (Victoria, Texas) picked up consecutive Rookie of the Week honors.

Redding led the Blazers attack during a 3-1 week, averaging 4.08 kills per set, totaling 49 kills with 31 digs and six service aces. Redding posted her first double-double of the season with 10 kills and 15 digs in a three-set sweep of St. Joseph (Conn.). During a tri-match sweep at New England College, Redding tallied 30 kills with 13 digs and six aces in a pair of wins over Nichols and the host Pilgrims.

Stewart racked up three double-doubles during a 3-1 week for the Blazers. After dishing out 22 assists with 13 digs at Framingham State, Stewart tallied 26 assists with 12 digs, six kills and two blocks in a three-set sweep of St. Joseph (Conn.) During a tri-match at New England College, Stewart notched 68 assists with 15 digs, four kills and three aces in a pair of victories for Elms.

The Blazers will be back on the court when Elms travels to Western New England University for a non-conference tilt Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
