HOW IT HAPPENED

Determined to get a win, the Blazers took on Mitchell College Thursday afternoon. Senior Elise Paier (West Springfield, MA) got the Blazers started early when she scored a goal less than three minutes into the first quarter. Sophomore Jackie Cronin (Smithtown, NY) followed this up by scoring a goal of her own and assisting on three straight Blazers goals, two by first-year Rachel Dort (Chicopee, MA), and another by Paier. Up by five, Elms didn't let up their offensive aggressiveness, as Dort scored another goal for the Blazers that was assisted by Paier, who then scored another goal of her own that was assisted by Cronin. The trio no doubt were the stars of the game, as they were involved in a majority of the Blazers' scores, and made an impact all over the field. Up 7-0, junior Greta Frankwicz (Cape Elizabeth, ME) found the back of the net for the Blazers as her goal was assisted by Paier. Paier, Cronin, and Frankwicz scored three straight goals for Elms, and the Blazers went into the half up 11-0. Dort scored for Blazers late in the third quarter to go up 12-0, but Mitchell scored their first goal of the game to counter the Elms score. Mitchell would score once more in the fourth, but Paier would score three more goals in the fourth quarter, including her 100th career gaol, and the Blazers also received score contributions from senior Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) and senior Samantha Bonneau (Skowhegan, ME). In dominant fashion, the Blazers broke their three game losing streak, winning 17-2.
