Women’s Lacrosse Falls at Framingham State University, 19-7

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. – Elms College sophomore midfielder Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) scored three goals and senior goalkeeper Rachel Schrutt (Chicopee, Mass.) made 17 stops, but Framingham State University used a 15-goal effort in the first period to highlight a 19-7 victory over the Blazers in Tuesday afternoon's New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game in Framingham, Mass.

With the loss, Elms falls to 0-12 on the season, 0-6 in NEWLA play, while Framingham State ups its record to 6-6 overall, 3-2 in conference action.

Framingham State took an early 4-0 lead before Elms' senior midfielder Emily Walsh (Hadley, Mass.) put the Blazers on the board at the 18:47 mark with her first score of the game.

The Rams answered with six straight goals to extend the lead to 10-1 before freshman attacker Lauren Mazza (Agawam, Mass.) halted the run with a marker with 12:46 to play in the opening frame.

Framingham State fired in five more goals to end the half to give the Rams a 15-2 advantage at intermission.

Kerry Kiley (Mansfield, Mass.) netted five of her game-high six goals in the opening 30 minutes, while Brittany McLean (Walpole, Mass.), who found the back of the net five times in the contest, struck four times in the first stanza.

The Blazers edged Framingham State, 5-4 in the second half as freshman midfielder Elisha Godbout (South Hadley, Mass.) registered back-to-back scoring strikes, while Narey scored all three of her tallies with under 12 minutes to play.

Sophomore midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.) won six of Elms' 15 draw controls and collected three groundballs and caused one turnover in the losing effort for the Blazers.

Rebecca Rixon (Stow, Mass.) earned the win between the pipes for Framingham State, while Ashley Holmes (East Sandwich, Mass.) played the final 15:12 of the contest in net and made two saves.

Elms returns to non-conference play on Thursday, April 18 when it travels to Wheelock College for a 8:00 p.m. game.
