BOSTON, Mass. - A three goal outbreak by Elms College , in just over five minutes of game play, provided plenty of offense on the night as the Blazers defeated the Newbury Nighthawks 4-0 on Wednesday night at The Winsor School.

The scoring started in the 22nd minute when Elms sophomore Danielle Asklar (Berlin, Conn.) put her team ahead 1-0 after a wonderful passing display in tight by senior Rachel Mick (Granby, Mass.) and junior Brie Voight (Springfield, Mass.), who were credited with the assists on the play.

The Blazers would double their lead in the 26th minute on a corner kick by junior Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Mass.) which was headed in by sophomore Kelsey Shea (Belchertown, Mass.) on the back post.

The scoring would continue for the visitors, who extended the lead to 3-0 just 17 seconds later after junior Mackenzie Larochelle (Chicopee, Mass.) knocked home a rebound, originally shot by Voight, that hit the crossbar.

The Nighthawks did have some early chances, the best of which came in the third minute with the match still scoreless. Carly Gibbard (Commack, N.Y.) found herself behind the Blazers defense, but was denied by the aggressive goaltending of freshman Rebecca Molin (West Hartford, CT).

Voight would add a goal for Elms in the second half for her 11th of the season. She also finished with two assists.

Sophomore Noelle Sass (Randolph, Mass.) finished the match with 12 saves in the losing effort for the Nighthawks, lowering her record to 4-6-1. Molin picked up her 10th clean sheet of the season and improved to 11-2-1 with a staggering goals against of just 0.49.

The Blazers return to the pitch against Southern Vermont Saturday at Leary Field at 1:00 p.m. Prior to the match, the Blazers will honor their four departing seniors on "Senior Day." The Nighthawks fall to 4-9-0 (1-4 NECC) overall and will continue their conference schedule on Saturday against Mitchell College at The Winsor School; kickoff set for 2:00 p.m.
