BABSON PARK, Mass. – The Elms College women's soccer team battled host Babson College to a 1-1 double overtime draw in non-conference action at Hartwell-Rogers Field Sunday afternoon. The Blazers move to 3-1-1 on the season, while Babson sits at 1-1-2 overall.

The play was back-and-forth to open the contest and the squads got a feel for each other. The Blazers had early chances on strikes from juniors Mackenzie LaRochelle (Chicopee, Mass.) and Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Mass.). The Beavers rattled off nine straight shots, but only one was on framed and denied by Elms freshman goalkeeper Rebecca Molin (West Hartford, Conn.). In the 38th minute, the Beavers broke the scoreless tie as senior Olivia Kerester (Chappaqua, N.Y.) tracked down a through ball from freshman Maggie McCabe (Weston, Mass.) and fired a shot that deflected off the post and in to stake Babson to a 1-0 lead.

Elms wasted little time finding the equalizer as Soucia ripped as shot from the edge of the box into the upper left corner, her first tally of the season, to knot the match at 1-1. Molin was huge for the Blazers in the second half, making a handful of crucial stops to maintain the even score. Molin denied McCabe from close-range in the 56th minute, followed by a clutch diving stop on a header from Babson senior Jennifer Narlee (Medfield, Mass.) with 8:10 to play, sending the match into overtime.

The Beavers outshot the Blazers, 25-11, during the contest. Molin made a game-high four saves for Elms, while Babson sophomore Elizabeth Mycock (Windham, Maine) made two saves in relief of sophomore Maddison Gierschick (Hopkinton, Mass.).

The Blazers will return to the pitch when they host Nichols College Wednesday at Leary Field at 7:00 p.m. The Beavers will host UMass-Boston Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
