WESTON, Mass. –The Elms College women's lacrosse team dropped an NECC matchup to host Regis College, 19-5, Wednesday evening. With the loss, the Blazers fall to 7-8 on the season and 3-3 in conference action while the Pride roll to 9-5 overall and 6-0 in the NECC.

The Pride came out strong in the first capitalizing on the draw to gain possession down the field. The Pride claimed the first five draw controls of the contest and in turn the first five tallies. The stint was headed by Sam Salamone (Milford, Mass.) tabbing two goals, followed by Mary Roma (Portland, Maine), Nicole Roche (Waltham, Mass.) , and Emily Kosak (Milton, Mass.) with one apiece to post a 5-0 Regis scoreboard with 25:57 remaining in the first.  From there Elms would recover and collect as a Jackie Soucia (Belchertown, Mass.) draw control produced a goal in transition after Soucia spotted Vanessa Vurno (Salem, Conn.) on the wing for the strike. Soucia would go on to collect yet again for Elms on the draw and send the momentum to Kieran Ramsey (Easthampton, Mass.) on the run. Ramsey spotted Vurno in midfield for the shift as Ashley Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.) screened for the open look to secure the second marker for Elms posting a 5-2 scoreboard. Despite Blazer efforts the squad would head into the second facing a 12-2 deficit as the Pride continued to find the back of the net securing seven more goals throughout the remainder of the half.

The Pride continued to push to start the second posting the first four goals to create a 16-2 scoreboard with 14:59 remaining. The Blazers continued to hold nothing back as Cava rallied for Elms tabbing two back to back goals within a minute with assists from Soucia and Vurno to keep spirits alive. Vurno would close out the scoring efforts for the Blazers collecting the last goal of the contest from the stick of Cava at 3:44 to end the afternoon with a 19-5 score.

Emma Decker (Southborough, Mass.) made 12 saves for Rhode Island, while Alissa Porfilio (Agawam, Mass.) made 5 saves for Elms.

The Blazers return back to action Saturday April 23rd when they travel to Southern Vermont College for a 2:30 PM start, while the Pride face off against Framingham State April 21st  at home for a 5:00pm start.
