Women’s Lacrosse Roars Past Bay Path College, 20-3

LONGMEADOW, Mass. – Elms College sophomore attacker Jillian Pirog (Ludlow, Mass.) and freshman defender Kathleen Tuechler (Farmingdale, N.Y.) scored four goals each and the Blazers netted 17 markers in the first half to help seal a 20-3 victory over Bay Path College in Friday afternoon's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) women's lacrosse game.

With the win, Elms improves to 4-9 overall, 2-2 in league play, while Bay Path moves to 0-9 on the season, 0-5 in league play.

Pirog and Tuechler scored four goals apiece, while junior attacker Ashley Cava (Wilbraham, Mass.) netted three goals. Freshman Emily Dawson (Somers, Conn.) junior midfielder Kayla Narey (South Hadley, Mass.) scored twice.

Senior midfielder Brianna Lyons (Canton, Mass.), sophomore defender Emily Brown (Agawam, Mass.), junior attacker Nora McDonough (South Hadley, Mass.), sophomore defender Kieran Ramsey (Easthampton, Mass.) and freshman attacker Sabrina Pereira (South Windsor, Conn.) added one score each.

Blazers' sophomore goalkeeper Sarah Carpenter (Vernon, Conn.) sealed the win six saves, while McDonough finished with seven saves in the effort.

Lyons picked up five groundballs and won 25 draws, while Tuechler and Pereira notched three groundballs each.

Bay Path received a pair of goals from Megan Squadrito (Ellington, Conn.) and one from Megan Tancredi (Newington, Conn.) while Squadrito and Courtney Scherer (Pawcatuck, Conn.) scooped seven groundballs each. Tancredi added six groundballs while Kimberly Drahushuk (Hudson, N.Y.) made 16 saves between the pipes in the losing effort.

Elms concludes regular season action on Saturday, April 26 with an NECC matchup at Wheelock College at 3:00 p.m.
