HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
The Blazers would get on the board first from a two-run single by senior Josie Cammarata (Wolcott, CT) and an RBI-single by first-year Caity Flynn (Colchester, CT), who then scored on a passed ball. The Blazers 4-0 lead did not last long, as Lasell scored seven runs in the next inning to take back the lead. The Blazers would take back the lead off of two walks that scored a run and a two-run single by first-year Jill Dykema (Preston, CT). However, the Blazers pitching could not keep the Lasers in check, as Lasell scored runs at will, adding four more runs to their total over two innings to take back the lead. The Blazers stayed in the game off two runs, one off of a sacrifice fly from junior Kyla Cook (Taunton, MA), and another off of a RBI-single by junior Katie Cosmos (Wolcott, CT). The Blazers offense would go dormant after this, and Lasell added seven runs to their total and buckled down on defense, taking the first game 19-10.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Cammarata: one hit, three runs batted in, and a run scored.

  • Dykema: one hit and two runs batted in, with two innings pitched and two strikeouts.

  • Cosmos: two hits, two runs scored, and two runs batted in.

Game 2
The Blazers bats went cold in the second game, as Elms couldn't score any runs early. Elms had a chance to score with two runners on base in the fourth inning, but a fielder's choice and a strikeout closed the door for Elms. The Blazers pitching limited Lasell, not allowing the Lasers to score any runs either, leaving the game tied at 0. Lasell broke through in the sixth and seventh innings, as the Lasers hit two home runs to bring in three runs, and recorded a run batted in and two-run single to take the win 6-0, sweeping the Blazers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

  • Cook: one hit

  • Cammarate: one hit

UP NEXT: The Blazers will host Dean College for their Strikeout Cancer Day on Saturday, April 20th in a doubleheader at 1 and 3 PM.
