Softball Loses 3-2 Extra Inning Decision to College of Wooster, Falls to Richard Stockton College, 9-0

FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Elms College softball team lost a 3-2 decision to the College of Wooster in eight innings and then lost Richard Stockton College, 9-0 in five innings to conclude action at the Gene Cusic Classic on March 13 in Fort Myers, Fla.

With the two losses, Elms concludes its Fort Myers trip 0-8 overall.

Against Wooster, Elms took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning before the Wooster leveled the game at 2-2 with a pair in the top of the sixth inning.

After a scoreless seventh frame, the Fighting Scots put across what stood as the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth and retired the Blazers in the bottom half of the inning to secure the 3-2 win.

Against Richard Stockton, the Ospreys used a four-run third frame to build on a 1-0 lead and closed out the victory with three runs in the bottom of the fifth stanza.

Elms' junior first baseman Ally Witaszek (Feeding Hills, Mass.) collected a total of three hits during Wednesday's action with two of those coming against Wooster.

Elms returns to Chicopee, Mass. on Sunday, March 17 for its 2013 home-opener against Johnson State College with double-header action slated to begin at 12:00 p.m. at Cheryl R. Condon Field.
