Two Second Half Goals Push Mariners Past Blazers

Chicopee, MA - The Elms College men's soccer team dropped a New England Collegiate Conference game on Saturday afternoon 4-2 to the visiting Mitchell College Mariners at Leary Field. The loss puts the Blazers at 2-10-3 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

The Mariners got off to a dream start, scoring 44 seconds into the contest. However, the lead lasted less than four minutes. The Blazers would find the equalizer after they were awarded a penalty kick. Babba Jadden (Clarkston, GA) would dribble past the Mitchell keeper before being taken down in the box. Jose Ulloa (Stamford, CT) would step up and convert the PK, evening the score at 1-1. 

Mitchell would take the lead back in the 14th minute 2-1.  The Blazers would pull even for the second time in the half as Jaden for the back of the net in the 33rd minute, and the teams went into the halftime intermission locked at 2-2.

In the second half, an Elms player drew a red card in the 63rd minute that resulted in a Mitchell penalty kick, which they converted to go back on top 3-2.

With the Blazers playing a man down for the final 27 minutes, the Mariners tacked on an insurance goal in the 78th minute, and take the game 4-2.

The Blazers are back in action on Wednesday 10/23 at 3PM when they travel to Dean College for an NECC match up.
