Blazers 9th After Day 1

NEWINGTON, Conn. – The Elms College men's golf team sits in ninth-place after the first day of the Detrick Invitational at Indian Hill Country club in Newington, Conn.

Chris Soderberg and William Marchand are tied for 26th individually after shooting six-over-par 78 in Round 1. Frankie Murray is three shoots behind them and tied for 37th after an 81. He is followed by Josh Keaton, who shot 10-over 82 (T44), Matt King who shot 83 (T47) and John Keegan who shot 88 and is tied for 58th.

With a team score of 319 (+31), the Blazers are just one shot behind eight-place Springfield College and three behind Western New England, which sits in seventh. Elms is six clear of Wesleyan.

Trinity leads the pack after a team score of 289, just one over par. Babson is second at +12, ahead of Tufts (+13) and Amherst (+16).

The tournament will wrap up on with another 18 holes on Sunday.
