The Owls added to their lead in the bottom of the second when Blair smacked a one-out single  before later scoring on a two-run base hit to center field with the bases loaded off the bat of Ackerman to extend Westfield's lead to 7-0. With the bases loaded again, Colesanti drove in his second run of the game with a fielder's choice.

Elms' freshman right-handed reliever Carlos Camacho (Springfield, Mass.) entered in the fifth inning and pitched a scoreless frame until Westfield State tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning when Colesanti drilled an RBI double to left center scoring Medeiros before coming around to score on a sacrifice fly to left field by Sean Geary (South Yarmouth, Mass.) to give the Owls a commanding 10-0 lead.
