No. 1 Castleton Advances To NAC Baseball Tournament Championship

No. 1 Castleton staved off elimination with an 8-6 win over No. 2 Elms College and a 10-9 victory over No. 3 Thomas in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Baseball Tournament action on Saturday at Szot Park. The Spartans advance to face No. 4 Husson in the conference title game at a date, site and time to be determined. Sunday's originally scheduled conference championship game at Szot Park has been cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.

Sophomore pitcher Mike Bieber (Wading River, NY) twirled a sparkling two-hit shutout through 5.0 innings of game two and freshman shortstop Brendan Cordeiro (Berkley, MA) went a combined 6 for 7 with a pair of doubles, a triple and five RBI to help the baseball team earn a split of a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) doubleheader at Becker on Wednesday night.

Senior left fielder Joe Ferry (Palmer, MA) went 2 for 4 with three RBI and a run scored, including a game winning RBI single in the seventh inning to help lead the Blazers past Clark 10-8 in Monday afternoon’s non-conference baseball game held at MacKenzie Stadium.
