Women’s Lacrosse Comes Up Short At U. Maine Farmington

Waterville, ME – The Elms College Women's Lacrosse Team battled hard but came up short in a 14-13 loss to the University Of Maine Farmington.

The first half had the two teams exchanging groups of consecutive goals and ended with the Beavers holding a 9-7 lead.

The Blazers came out strong in the second half and buried three consecutive goals to take a 10-9 advantage. The Blazers would hold a one goal lead until the Beavers stuck back with three straight goals of their own jumping back out front 13-11. Elms would make a final surge and would get to within one but would come up short and drop the road game 14-13.

Vanessa Vurno (Salem, CT) led the way for the Blazers with five goals. Haley Richard (Monson, MA) pitched in with 3 goals, 5 ground balls and 10 draw controls.

Emily Huber (Jefferson, ME) made six saves in the loss.

The Blazers are back in action on Wednesday when they host Dean College in NECC action at 7 p.m.
