Bridgewater State University Roars Past Women’s Lacrosse, 22-2

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – Elms College junior attackers Chelsey Grabowski (South Hadley, Mass.) and Emily Walsh (Hadley, Mass.) scored a goal each but Bridgewater State University's Patricia Maloney (Walpole, Mass.) scored six goals and 10 different Bears scored a goal to help lead Bridgewater State to a 22-2 victory in Saturday afternoon's New England Women's Lacrosse Alliance (NEWLA) game in Bridgewater, Mass.

With the loss, Elms falls to 3-11overall, 0-6 in NEWLA action, while Bridgewater State improves to 14-1 on the season, 6-0 in league play.

The Bears established an 18-0 lead at intermission on the strength of five of Maloney's six goals. Jill Caramello (Duxbury, Mass.) found the back of the net three times, while Nicki Giordano (Huntington Station, N.Y.), Courtney Lennon (Medfield, Mass.) and Erin Quimby (Chelmsford, Mass.) struck for two goals each during the first 30 minutes.

Bridgewater State extended its lead to 21-0 with a trio of goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half before Grabowski put the Blazers on the board with 14:39 remaining in the contest.

Braylan Wenzel (Buzzards Bay, Mass.) capped the scoring for the Bears before Walsh added her tally with 70 ticks left on the clock.

Elms' freshman goalkeeper Julie Hurley (Palmer, Mass.) notched nine saves in the losing effort.

Elms returns to non-conference action on Wednesday, April 27 when it hosts Anna Maria College at 7:00 p.m.
