Swimming Competes At Norwich University

Chicopee, MA - The Blazers returned to competition at Norwich University on Saturday 1/11/2020. The Blazers split the meet, with the women winning 128-116, and the men falling to Norwich 169-51.

Cricket Cavar (Vernon, CT) scored the first win for the Blazers in the 1000 Freestyle swimming to a 12:36.26. Sarah Cotto (Westfield, MA) finished a strong 3rd in the event to pick up valuable points for the Blazers. Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, ME) , Julianne Gordon (Plaistow, NH) and Ashley Krzykowski (Agawam, MA) followed up in the next event with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishes to continue the strong start to the meet. This was later followed up by a win in the 200 Fly from Brittany North in a season best of 2:43.40

Later in the meet, Kelly Scianna (Milford, CT) continued the Blazers winning ways picking up the victory in the 200 back in a time of 2:28.18, almost 10 seconds ahead of second place. Cavar, Cronkhite and Hope Daley (Merrimack, MA) finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively in the 200 Breast, solidifying the Blazer's lead in the meet. Scianna and North continued their winning ways, picking up wins in the 500 Free, 200IM and 100 Fly.

The Blazer men did not win any events, however this does not reflect their swimming performance in the meet. Eddie Helldorfer (Brunswick, ME) swam to season best times in the 1000 Free, the 200 Fly, and the 100 Fly. Nick Taylor (Turners Falls, MA) also had season best times in the 500 Free and the 200 Fly. The season bests did not end there, as Jake Connolly (Westbrook, ME) and Devin Senrchia (Ludlow, MA) swam to best times in the 100 Breast. Ryan Nodell (Monson, MA) scored 3 season best times in the 50 and 100 Free, and the 200IM. Paul Ferarro (Walpole, MA) swam to a season best in the 200 Back.

 

The Blazers return to the pool on Wednesday 1/15/2020 against Colby Sawyer.
