Jaden's Scores Two Late Goals To Lift Blazers To OT Win Over Lesley

CHICOPEE, Mass. -- The Elms College men's soccer team erased a late deficit to secure three crucial New England Collegiate Conference points with a 2-1 overtime win over Lesley University on Leary Field on Saturday.

The Blazers (4-7, 3-1 NECC) fell behind 1-0 in the 23rd minute when Lesley's Tiago Pacheco (Cranston, R.I.) placed a free kick from 25 yards out just between the outstretched fingertips of Elms goalkeeper A.J. Oliveira and the bottom of the crossbar.

The Lesley lead stood until the 87th minute when Babba Jaden (Clarkston, Ga.) got his head on the end of an Anthony Romei (Enfield, Conn.) free kick from about 35 yards out and tucked it past Lynx keeper Patrick Corcoran (West Hartford, Conn.) to even the score and eventually force overtime.

Jaden struck again less than two minutes into overtime when Romei delivered a corner kick to the far post and Colby Macdonald (Bristol, Conn.) played it one-touch to Jaden, who ended the game with his sixth goal of the season.

Elms held a 12-10 edge in shots in the game while Lesley had a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. The Lynx also held a 7-3 lead in corner kicks. Michael Lemke (Bristol, Conn.) and Joseph Larkin (Williamsburg, Mass.) were booked with yellow cards during a heated 35-second stretch mid-way through the second half.

It's the third consecutive win for Elms, who will face Eastern Connecticut on short rest in non-conference play on Sunday. The Lynx will return to play on Oct. 13 at Eastern Nazarene.
