Countdown to Opening Season

CHICOPEE, MA - Just over 200 days approaching the Men's Lacrosse teams inaugural season!

Blazers Lacrosse is just months away from their first ever game on Leary Field. The season is set to kick start on February 2nd against SUNY Cobleskill for a home opener. The inaugural season has  set up a home heavy schedule to host all the excitement of the new varsity team to campus.

With the brand new addition of a locker room dedicated to the team, a roster size of 18 and a game schedule set to play 15 games, the Blazers are more than ready for what this year has to offer them. Within the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) the Elms College Men's Lacrosse team will be the newest addition for the 2024 season.

"Year one for the Blazers Men's Lacrosse program is an incredible opportunity!" Rob Cross proclaimed with excitement when asked about the start of the program. "The Blazers family is on campus and there is a great deal of energy surrounding the first ever men's lacrosse program here at Elms.  We will begin our fall practices the first week of October. Our guys have been doing a terrific job since arriving on campus in the community, the classroom and on the lacrosse field." -Rob Cross (Coach Ciss)

With the addition of Jaxon Hendrickson on the staff as a Grad Assistant, Coach Cizz will have all the help he may need with this coming season. Hendrickson comes from Langley, British Columbia where he competed in professional indoor lacrosse, he will undoubtedly bring his own knowledge of the sport and skills to the team. Cizz had this to say about Hendrickson joining his staff, "Coach Jaxon Hendrickson had a standout career as a college athlete and played professional box lacrosse, but the thing I like most is that he's an amazing young man of high character and is a perfect fit for helping me grow the culture of this program."

Along with all the excitement of the development of his program here at Elms, Coach Cizz is entering the PLL (Premier Lacrosse League) Championship Finals with the world reigning champs Waterdogs Lacrosse club this coming weekend. Coach Cizz has been a member of the Waterdogs coaching staff for four seasons and is now entering his second World Lacrosse Championship with this team. The Waterdogs will compete on Sunday, Sept. 24th against the Archers, the game can be streamed on ESPN+ or on ABC.

"From inception to reality is the best way to explain this tremendous opportunity in front of us.  The coaching staff and team members will work hard to continue to build The Blazers Lacrosse program into a competitor in the GNAC conference and to be a program that The Elms College Community will be proud to be associated with!" - Coach Cizz
