Bay Path’s Lone Goal Pushes Wildcats Past Field Hockey, 1-0

Box Score

LONGMEADOW, Mass. - Elms College sophomore goalkeeper Alexandra Bonavita (Agawam, Mass.) recorded seven saves, but Bay Path College's Stephanie Belsen (Windsor Locks, Conn.) scored the Wildcats' lone goal in the 49th minute of play to help lift Bay Path to a 1-0 win and secure the program's first-ever playoff berth in Tuesday evening's New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) field hockey game at Ryan Field.

With the loss, Elms fall to 0-16 overall, 0-8 in league action, while Bay Path improves to 3-8 on the season, and 2-5 in conference play.

After a scoreless first half that saw Bay Path outshoot the Blazers, 7-0, Belsen finally put the Wildcats on the board when she received a pass from Jessica Priestley (Middleboro, Mass.) and delivered what proved to be the game-winning goal for the Wildcats.

The Blazers were held without a shot as Bay Path finished the contest with seven penalty corners and 10 shots, eight of which were on goal. Priestley accounted for four of the shots on target.

Elm's concludes its regular season when they host Western New England College (WNEC) in a non-conference contest on Thursday, Oct. 28. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m. at Leary Field.
