Baseball Swept At Mitchell

NEW LONDON, CT – The Elms College Baseball team was on the road Sunday afternoon for a big conference doubleheader at Mitchell College. The Blazers needed at least a split on the day in order to qualify for post season play. Elms lose both game one 12 -3 and come up short in game two 3-0.

Game One – Mitchell 12, Elms 4

Mitchell put up two runs in the first inning to grab an early lead. The Mariners added five runs in the second to go up by seven. The Mariners would put the game out of reach with five more runs in the 3rd.

Elms would get on the board in the top of the 4th on a Cam Griffin (West Springfield, MA) sac fly. Griffin would add to his RBI total when he smashed a 2 run home run over the right field fence. Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) would double in Kevin Banas (Hatfield, MA) but that's as close as Elms would get, losing the gane 12-4

Jakari Pellegrini would pick up the win, Brandon Bennett (Easthampton, MA) would take the loss for the Blazers.

Game two – Mitchell 3, Elms 0

Mitchell went up 1-0 in the second inning. The Mariners added a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to go up 3-0.
