GNAC End of the Year Awards Tab Five Elms Baseball Players

CHICOPEE, MA - In the Great Northeast Athletic Conference end of the year awards, the Elms College Baseball team had five student athletes selected.

ATHLETES SELECTED

George Chaya Jr. (Methuen, MA) ended the 2023 baseball season with 33 stolen bases leading the conference and breaking the program record at Elms College. Chaya also finished in the top thirty for runs batted in with 22 and 43 hits in the season. The right fielder also registered a .986 fielding percentage with 70 putouts to seat him on the ALL-Conference First team.

Tyler Galenski (Wilbraham, MA) was named to the ALL-Conference Third Team as a catcher after a season where he recorded 119 putouts, 18 assists, .986 fielding percentage and caught 10 runners stealing for a runners caught stealing percentage of .400.  Galenski also finished first in the conference for runners batted in with a total of 51 in the season.

Austin Roy (Cromwell, CT) finished out his senior season being named to the ALL-Conference Third Team as a third baseman. Roy recorded 40 hits with 23 runs batted in for the season, the Connecticut native had a hitting average of .305 his highest career average. In the field the senior had 35 putouts with 59 assists with a fielding percentage of .931.

AJ Cook (Mendon, MA) was also named to the ALL-Conference Third Team as a shortstop. Cook finished in the top two in the conference for stolen bases with 29 in the season, the junior also placed twelveth for RBI with 30 for the 2023 season. For fielding the shortstop registered 69 putouts and 99 assists, adding in 12 double plays. 

Colby Arnold (Waterford, CT) finished his first year as a Blazer being named to the ALL-Rookie team. The righty from Connecticut pitched in 6 games including in the semifinals, where the Blazers won 10-5 over the Lasell University Lasers. Arnold registered an era of 4.24, and recorded 4 wins with no losses this season. 

CJ Moriarty (Glastonbury, CT) has been selected to the ALL-Sportsmanship team for the 2023 Baseball season.
