Blazers Topped in Tri-Match

STANDISH, ME - The Elms College Volleyball team competed against the conference SJC Monks and non-conference Gallaudet University Bison, where they fell in straight sets in both the matches.

Records: Monks (5-13,2-6) | Blazers (3-15,2-5)

How it happened

Against the Saint Joseph's College of Maine the Blazers were unable to find their footing as the Monks were determined to win the match. The Blazers only trailed by a couple points in the second set, but were unable to build up a run to flip the lead in their favor.

After three straight sets (15-25, 18-25, 15-25) the Monks were able to secure the match win to start off the conference tri match.

Jaylen Holman (Las Cruces, NM) Recorded 12 assists and 18 assists

Alyssa Moore (Ludlow, MA) registered 18 digs

How it happened

Gallaudet University  took the first and second match points, beating the Blazers 16-25 in the first set and 18-25 in the second.

It wasn't until the third set that the Blazers turned up the heat on the Bison. After going on multiple point runs,  the Blazers were able to build up a lead of 11-6 early. The Bison made attempts to catch up to the Blazers, but with 4 kills from Samiyah Cabrera (Springfield, MA) and 3 from Alysha Izquierdo (Holyoke, MA) making it not an easy battle. The set became tied at 16's 17's and then one last time at 20's when the Bison were able to go on their final run to secure a 22-25 victory over the Blazers.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS

Alyssa Moore (Ludlow, MA) registered 24 digs, totalling 42 in the tri-match

Jaylen Holman (Las Cruces, NM ) had 13 assists with 15 digs for  her second double-double in the tri match totalling 25 assists and 33 digs

The Elms College Blazers are back in Picknelly Arena for a conference tri-match with Dean and Regis on Saturday, Oct. 21st at 11 and 3PM.
