HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms came out strong in the first set, going up 4-0 with a service run by Natalia Caraballo Rivera (Fajardo, P.R.). The Blazers and Cadets began trading points and remained tied at 24-24. Elms had a 26-25 advantage as the set extended into extra points but a pair of Cadet kills closed out the set. The Blazers fell 26-28 as Norwich led the match 1-0.

The second set saw the Blazers down 1 mid-way through at 10-11. It was the closest they would come to the Cadets as they faced a 4-14 Cadet run. The Blazers lost 15-25 as Norwich went up 2-0 in the match.

The Blazers refused to go down without a fight as they opened the third set with a dominant 8-2 lead. A service run from Govanna Rosado (Humacao, P.R.) pushed the Blazers to 15-7 and a pair of kills from Elese Ciarcia (South Glastonbury, CT) and Laura Jensen (Torrance, CA) sealed the set. Elms won 25-19 as Norwich still led the match 2-1.

The fourth set saw the Blazers down 17-22 before a string of seven straight points put the Blazers ahead 24-22. A Cadet kill pushed the set a point further before Alanys Cruz Diaz (Humacao, P.R.) answered with a kill of her own for the Blazers to take the set 25-23. Elms tied the match 2-2.

The fifth set saw the Blazers down 1-9 before they were able to string together a run of their own. Despite a pair of late kills by Cruz Diaz, the early deficit was too much for the Blazers to overcome and they fell 7-15. Norwich won the match 3-2.
