Blazers Fall to Corsairs

Dartmouth, MA – The Blazers fell to the Corsairs of UMass Dartmouth 3-0 (27-25, 25-20, 25-18), Thursday night at the Tripp Athletic Center.

THE BASICS:

SCORE: Elms 0 | UMass-Dartmouth 3
RECORDS: Elms (9-5-0, 4-1-0 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

It was an evenly matched first set as the score was all square at 10. The Corsairs went on a run to lead 20-15 late in the set. Elms stormed back into the set with a 10-5 run to tie the score at 25 and force extra points. An error by the Blazers gave the Corsairs a 27-25 first set win.

The beginning of the second set started similarly to the first. With the score tied at 11, the Blazers went on a 7-4 run to take an 18-15 advantage. The Corsairs pushed back with a 10-2 run to close out the set 25-20 and push to a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set saw the Blazers down 11-3 to the Corsairs before a 12-6 run to close the deficit to 17-15. That was as close as the Blazers would get as the Corsairs scored pushed through to the end of the set to win 25-18. UMassD won the match 3-0. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Cruz Diaz led the Blazers with 14 kills and added 2 aces and 3 blocks
- Caraballo Rivera contributed a match-high 18 digs
