Blazers Blank Dean for GNAC Win

Franklin, MA - The Blazers secured a 3-0 road victory over the Dean College Bulldogs in conference action Friday evening.

THE BASICS:

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms raced out to a 7-3 advantage in the first and never looked back. The Blazers went up 20-9 following a service run from Alyssa Moore. The Blazers posted 13 kills to take the first set 25-15. Senior Alanys Cruz Diaz had seven kills for Elms in the frame.

In the second set, the Blazers began with a 10-1 run to force a Dean timeout. Despite a mid-set push from the Bulldogs, Elms regained control and closed the set with a 13-3 run to win 25-11. The Blazers  recorded seven aces in the second set.

The third set was closely played as the Blazers held a slim 11-9 lead. A service run from Sabrina Christie pushed the Blazers to a 21-13 lead and four kills from Elese Ciarcia in the final stretch helped Elms take the set 25-17. Elms took the match 3-0. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Cruz tallied a match best 15 kills on .370 hitting and 12 digs for Elms

Ciarcia finished with five kills and no errors, while Jaylianne Ramos added six kills

Natalia Caraballo tallied 29 assists and four aces.

- The Blazers are back on the road this Saturday, for a trimatch against host, Lasell University and visiting, Fisher College for a 11AM start.
