Blazers Take the Win vs. Emmanuel
Boston, MA – Elms College Blazers took the win Tuesday evening at Emmanuel College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action at the Jean Yawkey Center Gymnasium.
THE BASICS:
SCORE: Elms 3, Emmanuel 1
Elms College Blazers (2-3, 1-0 GNAC)
Emmanuel College Saints (0-1, 0-1 GNAC)
HOW IT HAPPENED:
After opening the first set 4-4, Elms took the lead and control of the set to win 25-10 beginning with a strong serving run from Alanys Cruz Diaz. The Blazers held the Saints to a -0.077 hitting percentage in the set. The second set was full of back-and-forth action until the very end including a tie at 23-23. Emmanuel managed to pull out the set in extra points, winning 26-24. The third set was more back-and-forth action with 11 ties throughout the set. With a tied score of 20-20, Elms went on a 4-0 run beginning with a kill from Laura Jensen. Jensen went on to serve an ace which allowed Elms to take the set 25-21 and a 2-1 lead in the match. The fourth set began with a Blazer lead that saw them up 11-5. The Saints pushed to even the score at 11-11 before another surge by the Blazers. The Blazers closed out on a 14-1 run with serving runs from Jensen and Natalia Caraballo Rivera to take the set 25-12. Elms took the match 3-1.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Cruz Diaz led all players with a match-high 16 kills while hitting .213 from the floor.

Rosado led the night with 33 assists and led the team with 17 digs.

The Blazers had a season-high 20 service aces in the match.
