Blazers Make a Splash at Albertus
NEW HAVEN, CT -The Elms College Women's Swimming took to the lanes at Albertus Magnus on Saturday, November 18th where the Blazers picked up their first conference win of the season.
Blazers DeAngela Fobbs (Bowie, MD) placed first in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle and the Women's 50 Yard Butterfly. Fobbs also secured the school 50 Yard Butterfly record at Elms with a time of 27.96 seconds, the grad student is the second swimmer to record a new record in this event since 2014.
Joni McGillis (Katy, TX) and Sasha Platniak (South Hadley, MA) both took first place finishes in two events in the meet on Saturday. Desiree Espinoza (Las Angeles, CA) also finished first in the Women's 100 Yard Breaststroke followed by a third place showing in a later event.
In the Women's 200 Yard Medley Relay the Blazers team swam on their own with a dynamic of Auxana Newell (West, Springfield), Desiree, Megan Baio, and Rayne Wheeler (Big Piny, WY) finishing with a time of 2:23.09.
On the men's side the Blazers only swimmer Miguel Pearce (Guilford, CT) placed second in both of the events he swam in scoring eight total points in the meet.
