Blazers Cruise to Non-Conference Victory Over Corsairs
DARTMOUTH, MA - The Elms College Women's Swim team overpowered UMASS Dartmouth in the non-conference meet on Friday, Nov. 10th, final team score Blazers 145 to the Corsairs 62.
The Blazers took 1st place in eleven of the thirteen events at the swim meet. First place finishers included a showing from Evelyn Pohlman (Northbridge, MA), Joni Mcgilis (Katy, TX), Desiree Epinoza (LAs Angeles, CA), Sasha Plotniak (South Hadley, MA), and DeAngela Fobbs (Bowie, MD).
In the 50 Yard Fly, DeAngela Fobbs was just a few tenths of a second away from breaking the Elms College record and now has the second fastest time in that event in Blazer History! Sophomore McGillis took first in two events, the Women's 100 Yard Butterfly where she finished ten seconds faster than her opponent and in event eight the 100 Yard Backstroke where she finished 12 seconds ahead of the second place finalist.
Two of the Blazers first years took first in multiple events at the meet. Epinoza also collected two first place sports in the 50 Yard Backstroke followed by the 50 Yard Freestyle, holding a second lead over both second place finishers in each event. Followed by First year Plotniak who finished first in the 100 Yard Freestyle and the 500 Yard Freestyle, both first years performance helped the Blazers sail to victory in the non-conference swim.

"It was a great day to be a Blazer! I was very happy with the team's performance and sportsmanship at the event. The Swimmer of the meet was Evelyn Pohlman, during the 200 free she stuck to our race plan and out touched the second place finisher. Also, during the 500 she dropped eight seconds. GO Blazers!"
