McGillis and Fobbs Placed First in Individual Events
WENHAM, MA- The Elms College Women's Swim team competed in a Tri-Swim meet on Friday, Oct. 27th where they swam against the Fighting Scots and the Pride.
The Blazers took 1st place in event number five the Women's 200 yard Freestyle, with a nine second grace period when DeAngela Fobbs (Bowie, MD) secured that event. Fobbs would go on to finish 1st in event number fourteen the Women's 200 Yard Butterfly with a time of 2:33 leaving everyone to get caught up in her ripples.
Sophomore Joni McGillis (Katy, TX) also made two first place appearances at the meet with her first one in the ninth event, the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle where she took the win by milliseconds. McGillis also swam in the Women's 100 Yard Freestyle one second ahead of the second place swimmer, securing her second first place spot in the meet.
Two of the Blazers first years took top ten in two different events, Sasha Plotniak (South Hadley, MA)placed 3rd in the Women's 200 Yard Breaststroke and Rayne Wheeler (Big Piney, WY) took third place in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle.

"No one ever loves loosing a close meet, but I am incredibly proud of my team. The swimmer of the meet goes to Sasha Plotniak. She swam the 1,000 and 500 freestyle as well as the 200 breaststroke. I am looking forward to the Regis Invite in December where we go up against Gordon College again. Go Blazers!"

The Elms College Swim teams will compete on Friday Nov. 10th at UMass Dartmouth for a non conference meet.
