Blazers Make Their Last Splash Before the NEISDA Championships

Biddeford, ME – The Elms College swim team competed in their last tri-meet of the regular season.

THE BASICS:
SCORE:

1. University of New England 1st

2. Maine Maritime Academy  2nd

3. Elms College 3rd

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms College competed in a non-conference tri-meet meet against the University of New England and Maine Maritime Academy. The Blazers started off strong in the 1000-yard freestyle with Nick Taylor (Turners Falls, MA) placed first place. Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, ME) followed that up with a third-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke achieving a NEISDA B-cut in that event. In that race, Cronkhite was able to out-touch two other swimmers by 5 one thousand of a second. She also competed in the 50-yard freestyle and put up an impressive time for this time of the season. During the 50-yard and 100-yard breaststroke, the Blazers had a great showing by senior Hope Daley (Merrimack, N.H.).

FROM THE DESK OF COACH WALKER:
"It was a good meet overall and I was happy we were able to get one last meet in before NEISDA Champs. We put swimmers in off events and I was very happy with Ashley's 50-yard backstroke. She dropped a lot of time and I was pleasantly surprised with the results. With some fine-tuning in the 50-yard back, we can see some great results in two weeks at the NEISDA Championships! We are moving in the right direction and now we will be gearing up for the NEISDA Championships. There is a lot of work to do, but we will be very prepared for it. Go Blazers!"

UP NEXT:
- The Blazers are traveling to the University of Rode Island on Thursday 2/24-2/27 to compete in the four-day NEISDA Championships.
