Blazers Make a Splash in First Conference Meet

West Hartford, CT – The Elms College swim team competed in their first conference meet against Albertus Magnus College, Eastern Connecticut University and University of Saint Joseph Connecticut this past Friday at University of Saint Joseph's.

THE BASICS:
SCORE:

1. Eastern Connecticut State Univ 728

2. University of Saint Joseph 365

3. Albertus Magnus College 265

4. Elms College 33

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Elms College attended the Blue Jay Pentathlon where there is only the 100 of each stroke and three relays. The Blazers started off strong in the 100 backstroke with first year Chloe Poles (Burlington, MA) finishing in the top ten. During the 100 breaststroke, Ashley Cronkhite (Lewiston, ME) tied for 8th place. Cronkhite also had a solid showing in the 100 freestyle coming in 7th place overall.

The Blazer's entered three events instead of five, allowing the swimmers to focus on their races and get a solid baseline for the season.

FROM THE DESK OF COACH WALKER:
"We're pleased with the individual result and effort. The score board will reflect our performances this season due to the size of our team. Also, I was pleased with my decision of limiting the number of events that our swimmers swam. I wanted to get a solid starting point for the season. This is a rebuilding year and we are setting the foundation for success. Go Blazers!"

UP NEXT:
- The Blazers are on the road Saturday 11/6 in at a conference quad meet against Albertus Magnus College, Saint Joseph's College and the University of Saint Joseph, for a 1PM start.
