HOW IT HAPPENED:

The Blazers got off to a fast start, nearly scoring in the first minute of the home opener. The home side didn't take long to find the back of the net and took an early lead at the 6:09 mark of the first half. Sophomore Jamie McDonough (Dedham, MA) made her way down the sideline navigating her way past the Roos defenders. McDonough would send a cross into the 18 yard box where First Year Lilli Ramos (Springfield, MA) hit a perfect onetime shot past the Roos keeper. This was Ramos's first collegiate goal of her young career. Elms didn't waste any time extending their lead, scoring another goal just over a minute later. Junior Kelly Malheiro (Long Island, NY) gathered a pass just over midfield and made a rush toward the SUNY Canton goal. Malheiro found herself at the top of the 18 and made a flawless pass to First Year Emily Basua (Oxnard, CA) who pushed a shot into the lower left side of the net, putting the Blazers up 2-0. Elms would continue to control the game for the rest of the half, outshooting the visitors 8-1.

Elms picked up where they left off and continued to dominate the game. It took only 10 minutes for the Blazers to find the back of the net for the third time. First Year Kaylee Little (Brighton, MA) dribbled around a Roos defender and slid a pass to the penalty mark where Basua would collect and deposit the ball into the visitor's net for her second of the game. The home side picked up their 4th goal on the day just 5 minutes later. Malheiro played playmaker again, this time setting up Little 24 yards from goal, Little was then able to chip the SUNYCanton keeper and pick up her first collegiate goal.

The Blazers finished out the second half without giving up a shot to the visiting Roos.
