Blazers Play to 1-1 Draw with Rams

Chicopee, MA – The Elms College women's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw after two overtime periods in non-league action Wednesday night vs Framingham State University.

THE BASICS:

- Score: Elms 1, Framingham State 1

- Records: Elms (2-1-1), Framingham State (0-2-1)

Location: Leary Field – Chicopee, MA

HOW IT HAPPENED:

The visitors were able to hold the Blazers potent offense to just one goal through the first half despite being outshot 8 to 4. Elms' first and only goal came at the 24:03 mark of the first half when Kayla Pasquel (North Attelboro, MA) played a perfect through-ball to the foot of Senior Morgan Foucault (Putnam, CT) who was able to slide a shot into the back of the Rams net, and would take a 1-0 advantage into the break.

The home side continued to apply pressure on the Rams goal, but were unable to extend the lead. This would prove costly, Framingham found the equalizer in the 60th minute off a corner, setting up for a back and forth final 30 minutes. Both sides would have chances to take the lead, however neither could capitalize sending the game into overtime and eventually a 1-1 draw.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

  • Gianna Liquori (East Longmeadow, MA) made four saves in the draw for the Blazers in her first collegiate start.
  • Elms held the advantage in shots 22-to-10 and shots on net 14-to-5. The hosts also had nine corner kick opportunities to the Rams six.
  • Foucault led the Blazers with 6 shots, 5 hitting the target

FROM THE DESK OF COACH MILBIER:

"Obviously we did not get the desired result however, there is a lot of good things to take away from the match. We will continue to work hard to get better."
